Are Steroid Shots Right Treatment For Arthritis On Hip?
i was diagnosed with arthritis of the hip by my dr.symptoms are pain in groin area, occasional sharp pain in the hip, tightness and pain in back.I am in good health,65 years old and have been walking 5 miles a day.My dr. gave me a steroid shot for the condition and said he would give me a prescription for an anti-inflammatory if symptoms persist. x-ray was made.Does this sound like good treatment and how long will it take for results?
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having arthritis of the hip. My response to your question is as follows.
Arthritis is inflammation of the joint. This requires treatment by the use of anti-inflammatory drugs. Steroids are potent anti-inflammatory drugs and are one of the drug of choice in non responding or severe arthritis. Hence steroid injections are one of the right treatment, no need to be worried.
Hope this information is helpful to you. Do write back to me for any further questions and I will be happy to answer and assist you.
