Are Sore Blisters On The Body A Symptom Of Shingles?

I am a 47 year old female who was diagnosed with Shingle a couple years ago. Periodically I get a sore or group of blisters in almost the same location. Could this be recurrence of shingles. It seems to be at same time as start of menstrual cycle.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Recurrence of blisters in the same location is very likely due to shingles, especially because you have already had previous shingles in that area.

Generally, no specific treatment is needed but pain killers and possibly local acyclovir cream started within 72 hours of the rash.

In patients that get a severe rash or are over 65 years of age or have chronic conditions, oral acyclovir may be indicated to be initiated within 72 hours of the rash.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
