Are Severe Calf Cramps An Indication Of DVT?

Friday evening, and throughout the night, I was plagued by multiple cramps in both feet and calves. Since Sunday morning, both calves have been sore, but particularly, the right one. There is a couple small bruises on my right calf and it is tender to the touch in a couple of spots. I am concerned about it possibly being DVT and am wondering, could severe cramps in the calf lead to muscle strain/tearing?

Hi,

As you said you had cramps in both the legs that too severe. I don't think this is because of the deep vein thrombosis. The reason I may conclude can be either increased level of potassium or severe dehydration.

You need to take the calcium supplements for a week to get your cramps reduced. Also make sure you are taking 4 to five litters of water daily too.
If you have any swelling, unilateral (only in one leg) that clay be the cause of concern for DVT that you had not mentioned in your query.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
