Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Runny Nose, Headache And Yellow Nasal Discharge Flu Symptoms?
I have congestion, drainage in my throat, a sore throat, runny nose, minor aches, no fever. My nasal discharge is occasionally yellowish. Is this a flu or just bad head cold? If a flu are there antibiotics for this? How long am I contagious? Thanks
Yellowish nasal discharge is probably related to a bacterial infection. I would recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.
I also recommend taking antibiotics such as Augmentin two times a day. I also recommend using saline nasal sprays for local relief. I suggest drinking liquids and rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
