Are Red Itchy Patches On Legs And Arms Due To Eczema?

For over a month I ve been having red itchy patches on my legs and arms. I though, psoriasis or excema?? Now It s taken over my entire body! Even my scalp and my hair is falling out more. It s actually become painful to take a cool shower even (cause I can t take a hot one at all or it flares up severely).I ve put vitamin E, coconut oil, creams, etc and nothing is making it better. No, I haven t switched detergents, I don t use fragrances of any kind or changed my diet. I ve only had excema once in my life and it was a small patch on my side which cleared up with coconut oil. My legs and now my sides and back burn when I lay down at night and can t get relief...not sure what to do

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red itchy patches on legs and arms due to eczema which is very common as dirt and moisture get trapped by your clothing and the friction that comes from sitting can cause pimple. It can also occur due to eczema or contact dermatitis . Side effect of certain medicine can also cause this. I would suggest you to keep this area clean and dry , apply cream containing anti inflammatory. If condition doesn't get better then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically along with blood test and sample for lab test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants , antibiotics like clindamycin , anti inflammatory or anti fungal . Doctor may also prescribe corticosteroid ointment . Protect your skin from direct sunlight , applying aloe vera gel can help. You should apply cold compresses with soaked towel , take over the counter anti histamine like zyrtec and apply vitamin C serum at night.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
