Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Rashes Which Developed After Varivax Vaccination Contagious?
I got the varivax vaccine on monday and started developing a rash within 48 hrs. It s spreading and getting worse. This was the second round of varivax, and I saw no side effects with the previous vaccine given 1 month ago. I also recieved the MMR shot 2 weeks ago. I was told by employee health to not be around the newborn babies until the rash clears up. However, my 4.5 month old niece is supposed to be staying with me this weekend. Is it safe to be around her with this rash? I don t want to risk anything- especially is this means that she could potentially develop varivax or measles- or whatever.
Greetings regarding your symptoms of rash following your second dose of varivax vaccine yes you don't need to stay with neonates because of potential risk of the neonate contacting the rash and not the varivax vaccine
