Are Rashes And Burning Around The Vulva Side Effects Of Taking Antibiotics?
Hi, I had a bladder infection that took 2 courses of antibiotics to get cleared up. I suddenly have a very severe itch around my vulva to my anal area. It is very red, burns sometimes and on the outer area of if this rash is flaking white skin. I have tried baby powder, baby bum cream etc and nothing helps. It looks terrible! Is it a skin yeast infection because if the antibiotics or something else? How do i treat it?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. What problems you are encountering in the genital area looks like fungal (yeast) infection, probably due to taking a long course of antibiotics. Kindly do the following to overcome it. 1. Clean the area with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon twice daily. 2. After drying, apply Fluconazole cream over the lesions. 3. You can apply moisturizer cream or lotion at bedtime. 4. Take multivitamin capsules once a day for 2 weeks. 5. Wear loose fitting undergarments and avoid friction in the area. 6. Abstain from sexual activities till the lesions heal completely. Gradually, you should be able to recover back to normal. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
