Are Over-active Bladder And Hair Loss Side Effects Of Vesicare?

Hello, I was on Vesicare for the last year. I am now going to stop this medicine. I didn t realize I have been having all kinds of side affects. I have had issues with stumbling over words & with hair loss. I didn t know Vesicare can cause memory problems. I went on Vesicare because of an overactive bladder. Since being on it, I am now having small leakage issues after I empty my bladder. (I am able to empty completely, that has been checked by my doctor). Can Vesicare have caused an issue with my bladder sphinter also?

Hi,

Vesicare is used to treat an overactive bladder, such as urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence. While it is generally well-tolerated by most patients, like all medications, it can cause side effects in some people.

Hair loss and stumbling over words are not common side effects of Vesicare but have been reported in some patients. Memory problems, on the other hand, are a known side effect of Vesicare and may be more likely to occur in older patients or those with existing memory problems.

Small leakage issues after emptying the bladder may also be a potential side effect of Vesicare, although this is less common than other side effects like dry mouth, constipation, or blurred vision. Vesicare may have caused an issue with your bladder sphincter, although this would need to be evaluated by your doctor.

If you are experiencing any unwanted side effects from Vesicare, it is important to discuss them with your doctor to determine if a different medication or treatment may be appropriate for you. Your doctor may recommend stopping Vesicare or adjusting your dosage if necessary. It is not recommended to stop taking a medication without first consulting with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

These effects are particularly seen on beginning of increasing dose, urinary retention can lead to buy already have leaking issue, so in your cases sphincters are not effected. Consult a urologist and for CNS issue neurologist, constipation and dry mouth are mostly seen. (There are few pelvic exercises which helps too, learn yoga and meditation can help too).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
