Are Oral Thrush And Peeling Skin On The Hand Suggestive Of HIV?

hello I have a question related to possible risk of HIV. I had unprotected oral sex with a female ( felatio), with no other form of risk. after the exposure abut a week later i was worried and my habits changed. I stopped eating properly and lost about 4 kg weight in 2 weeks and felt weak. i also had oral trush for a few days. after 3 weeks I went for full STD test including a combi test for Hiv1/hiv2 and antigen and it came back all negative. Now 4 weeks later i feel sometimes weak in my arms and i had mouth ulcer which has healed. I also found that after shower on my right hand i have peeling skin which goes away after a few hours. I am planning on taking another test after six weeks for hiv. I would like to get your assesment on the symptoms I am experiecing and how concerned I should be?

Hello Dear. The symptoms you suggested definitely points to some infection, but we cannot conclusively say whether its due to HIV or not. The ELISA test which detects antibodies against virus should be repeated after 6 weeks and then 6 months to rule out HIV infection. If you are negative after 6 months then we can say you are negative.

But you can go for other tests like P24 antigen test or PCR test. This will definitely say whether you have HIV infection or not. Though this is costly test, you can speak to your doctor and get it done.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
