Are Oil-based Paint Fumes Hazardous?

Workers have re-painted the basement parking garage in our building. There is a strong smell that reminds me of wood-foor varnish, so I suppose the paint is oil-based. The smell is especially strong on the 1st floor, right above the garage. The employees (security) working there now all have red eyes. I am worried that the prolonged intoxication could be harmful to them. There is definitely exposure, but I am wondering about the fumes are hazardous to determine whether there is a risk for these employees.

Yes, these fumes can be toxic. They should only use these compounds in well ventilated areas. These areas need to be ventilated as soon as possible.
