Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Numbness In Lips And Facial Swelling Side Effects Of Amoxicillin?
I have been on amoxicillin 785 mg for 7 days for double ear infection, and taking Sudafed and Claritin also. Today I noticed numbness in my lips (one side), a slow blinking eyelid and there is swelling all on one side. Don't see any noticeable drooping, speech seems fine. So no stroke...
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain unilateral numbness of the lips along with slow blinking eyelid and swelling on one side seems to be probably due to nerve inflammation secondary to infection and due to inflammation of the nerve there can be depletion in its function causing numbness..
I would suggest you to consult your treating Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
Along with antibiotics you can be advised steroids and Vitamin B complex supplements..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
