Are Numbness And Swelling In The Legs Side Effects Of Taking Ceftin?

I took the generic from of Ceftin 2 months ago. I found out that I m allergic to it. My right leg swelled up like a balloon. Most of the swelling has gone down and now it s numb. I ve been to 4 of my doctors to see if they can figure out what s wrong. What should I do now?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Ceftin (Cefuroxime) might have caused 'Hypersensitivity reaction' but it usually subsides once the drug is withdrawn. Numbness is temporary and may be due to stretching of nerve fibres or nerve receptors in the overlying skin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
