Are Negative STD Test Results After 5 Years Of Possible Sexual Exposure Conclusive?

Hi I am little confused over this that I had unsafe sex once almost 5 years back when I was bachelor and as of now I am married & planning for baby after 2 & half year of our marriage. I specially got tested my self from a doctor for HIV & rest all STDs but was negative for all such diseases. After 2 & half years of our married life last evening we had a check up from renowned hospital of the city over her pregnancy & had got tested again for every thing including HIV Tridot + AG test & all was negative all fine. So just to check with you is there still any chance that I might have any such infection & if yes then what should I do & if not then can we plan a baby as I never had any sex other than my wife after our marriage of 2 & half years. Please advice

Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Short answer: You are absolutely fine. Yes, you can plan for a baby.

Detailed answer:

Thank you for asking.

An Unprotected sex doesn't always causes STD's. You are at risk when your partner has any STD's. However, it was 5 years back and all your tests are negative. So, I'm strongly of the opinion that you have not caught any STD's from that unprotected sex. You are absolutely fine. Take this off from your mind and enjoy your life.

If you have any other queries, feel free to ask.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr.Prathap Kumar
