Are Melacare And Monate Cream Recommended For Pigmentation?

I am 56 years old. I have pigmentation and dark spots around my chin area. Doctor has advised me to use Melacare and Momate cream around that area for one month to remove the pigmentation since the creams contain steroids. Is it ok to use them? thanks

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as you have hyperpigmentation around your chin area, it is appropriate that you need depigmentation creams and ointments to reduce the pigmentation so that the skin tone becomes even..
But as you are advised steroid creams, you need to be careful as they have severe side effects like skin thinning, inflammation, rashes, pigmentation, increased hairgrowth on face and dilated veins under skin..
Steroid creams can be used for short durations as long duration use can cause side effects..
So it is better to use it under supervision of a trained Dermatologist..
You can also opt for other safer depigmentation creams like Kojic acid, glycolic acid, arbutin and Vitamin E creams..
Exfoliate your skin twice a week..
Limit sun exposure..
You can also go for Photofacial, galvanic facials and chemical peels..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
