Are Low Grade Fever And Retching Side Effects Of Albendazole?

3 year old child given albendazole oral suspension (zentel) (10 ml single dose) under doctor s prescription. Developed low grade fever (100°F) within 2-3 hours. No other symptoms. Slept about 6 hours after albendazole. But woke up in an hour retching. Did not actually vomit (last meal was several hours ago). Are these side effects of albendazole?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fever is a very rare but possible side effect of Albendazole. Stomach irritation and nausea are more common with its use.
Both of these symptoms may happen with other conditions as well.
I would advise you to talk to your doctor in case these symptoms persist or are any worse.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
