Are Gastrointestinal Problems Hereditary?
I have a gastro problem. Symptoms include urgent need to defecate, occasional stomach sourness made worse by certain foods and stress. I do know that it is Hereditary as my Mother and my sister both experience the same symptoms as me. My mother I know is getting worse. She has had a couple colonoscopies that showed no definitive results.

There are certain GI disorders which co-relate with the HLA isotype of some diseases which have to be evaluated for particular cases, but not all the conditions of GI are hereditary.
There are more chances in your cases to find some of the hereditary correlations ahead.
