This is about my 74 year old mother who lives in France. She has been hospitalized since Tuesday due to great fatigue, nausea and loss of appetite, and stomach pain that had started back in July. Exams revealed a mild gastritis. The test came back negative for helicobacter pylori. She was doing a lot better after she was rehydrated (IV + directly into her abdomen for one night). Then hydration was cut back, including the amount of water she could drink due to slightly low sodium. Fairly extensive blood work has been done, all came back normal. When I was with her in France this summer, I was alarmed by how little water she was drinking. I am wondering if she does not suffer from chronic dehydration. I really feel at a loss being so far away and w/o any definite answer.
