The high levels of the liver enzymes are suggestive of a condition called cholestasis of pregnancy or obstetric cholestasis. It is due to impaired flow of bile (a digestive fluid) from the liver. There s nothing to worry about, you can take Ursodeoxycholic Acid twice a day which helps decrease the level of bile in the mother s bloodstream and reduces the complication for the baby. If you get itching you may apply Lacto calamine lotion and tablet Cetirizine at night for itching. These liver function tests should be repeated after 4-6 weeks and you should have periodic ante natal check up as suggested by your obstetrician.
