Are Ear Infection And Pneumonia Contagious?

I was diagnosed with double ear infection and pneumonia on Friday. I started antibiotics and steroids on Friday. I continue to have a low grade fever and body aches. I would like to know how long am I contagious? Should I stay home from work tomorrow?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain ear infections are not highly contagious while for Pneumonia it depends upon the type of bacteria causing it..If after blood tests it is found out that the causative organism is Mycoplasma Pneumonia or Mycoplasma Tuberculoses then it can be highly contagious and care should be taken not to be around people as well as do not share your personal belongings and utensils, towels etc with them..
I would suggest you to consult your treating Physician and get evaluated and he can explain you about the exact causative organism and if needed sputum and blood culture can be done to rule out the causative strain of bacterial..
If the highly contagious ones are ruled out, it will be better to stay back home and take proper rest and medication that will also avoid infection to others,,

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
