Are Diarrhea And Headaches Side Effects Of Doxycycline?

Hello, I am going to Africa for one week and am taking Doxycycline as malaria prevention. However, its giving me diarrhea and blood in my stool and headaches. My stool is very orange colored (I think due to blood). I live abroad where Doxycycline is the only malaria prevention medicine available. Are these side effects normal and are they serious?

Doxycycline does not cause bloody diarrhea. It is due to intestinal infection which is causing headache also. If i have to treat such a patient i will advice Tab norflox TZ twice a day, tab enteroquinol three times a day ,cap omeprazole three times a day, light deit.
