Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Im having a late menstruation for this month, Probably Feb 6 is my menstrual due for this month but it isnt coming yet. Yesterday I bought a pregnancy kit and the results is negative. I am sexually active with my partner. So can i be pregnant or what?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes delayed periods could be the symptom of pregnancy. But your pregnancy test is negative. Chances of urine pregnancy test to be wrong (false negative) after missing your period are very few. Therefore according to me you are not pregnant & delay in period should be related to hormonal change, Excessive stress, sudden weight change, some ovarian disease leading to delayed menstruation. You should consult a gynaecologist for delay in periods. If your periods are delayed by more than 2 weeks you are advised a repeat pregnancy test or blood pregnancy test to rule-out false negative pregnancy test
Refer to a gynaecologist Hope this information helps
