Are Bruising And Swelling In Ankle Post A Fall A Cause For Concern?

hi, I had fallen down the stairs a week ago and cut open my shin a bit. the cut has healed but I have a lot of swelling and bruising on my shin. I believe that is normal but I also have bruising and swelling in my ankle and on the side of my foot, is that normal? and if so, how do I treat it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Swelling can occur of adjacent areas to the site of trauma, it is not unusual for this occur.

Rest, elevation of the limb and the use of oral anti inflammatory pain killers would help reduce the swelling
This includes medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen or cataflam

I hope this helps
