Are Antibiotics Advisable For Redness And Pain In Ear?

Hi I have got a bad pain in one of my ear and the external ear is red had a cold a few days but is gone now I think I have ear infection do I need to take antibiotics? is really painful .I have already took amoxicilline the pain has been for 2 days now .any advice would be apreciated

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in ear along with redness in external ear and a recent history of cold points towards ear infection and the symptoms seems to be due to it..
I would however suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case if there is infection, you can be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, and also put antibiotic and analgesic ear drops..
You should also avoid excess water exposure to ears like swimming as it can increase infection..
Avoid picking the ears..
