Are Lisinopril And Atenolol Right Medications For High BP?

Hello, I take Lisinopril-HCTZ 20-25mg once daily along with Atenolol 25mg. This is not helping reduce my high BP and I believe that the Atenolol is causing and irregular heart beat (this has happened 4 times in the past year it usually last 24 to 48 hrs and it feels like you are having heart palpations every 1-2 min). I want to wean off both drugs, because I feel the are doing more harm than good.

hi
both atenolol & lisinopril are good anti hypertensive medications
while atenolol is more cardiac selective beta blocker, lisinopril is very satisfactory ACE inhibitor.
actually atenolol should reduce the palpitations rather than increasing.
or you can better switch on to metoprolol which is more safer even with the extended release formulations.
these are contraindicated only with severe broncho-spasm,severe bradycardia,or uncontrolled sugar levels.
i suggest you to get re-evaluated with your tyreating doctor before taking any individual self decisions regarding this.
all the best
take care
