Are Hydrochlorothiazide And Hydralazine Responsible For Erectile Dysfunction?
I suffer from hypertension and type 2 diabetes. I also have erectile dysfunction. I am concerned that my ED is due, in part, to my medications. Two of the blood pressure meds are hydrochlorothiazide and hydalazine. Are there alternative drugs that do not have the possible ED side effect?
Apart from causing decreased serum potassium levels, an increase in blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides and uric acid levels it can also cause impotency or erectile dysfunction as its one of the side effects.
Since you are also suffering from type 2 diabetes which may also be responsible for the erectile dysfunction as well.
So, you need to consult your treating doctor for an alternate safe but effective medication to control your BP like ACE inhibitors like Lisinopril which is the preferred BP lowering medication in presence of type 2 diabetes as it is known to protect the kidneys from the harmful effects of diabetes complications.
Hope these answer your queries.

Are Hydrochlorothiazide And Hydralazine Responsible For Erectile Dysfunction?
Dear Sir, Hi & Welcome. Of the prescribed medications Hydrochlorothiazide seems to be responsible for the development of erectile dysfunction. Since you are also suffering from type 2 diabetes which may also be responsible for the erectile dysfunction as well.
