Are Amlodipine And Olmesartan Medoxomil 5 Mg/40 Mg The Right Medicine For High Blood Pressure?

Today My blood pressure is 180/90 and my doctor wants me to take Amlodipine and Olmesartan Medoxomil 5 mg/40 mg instead of the Ziac 10/6.25 mg and Norvasc 5 mg generics that I ve taken for the last 5 years. What do you think about that course of action? I ve lost 7 1/2 lbs and currently weigh 151.2 lbs also my height is 5 2.

Hi
I can understand your concern.
Yes, the combination of these two medications is safe and effective to control the high BP.
Since they belong to different groups & they have a different mechanism of action to reduce the high BP they are used in the treatment of uncontrolled hypertension.
You are advised to do certain life style modifications such as cut down dietary salt intake, do regular exercise, avoid stress, eat healthy balanced diet, avoid alcohol and smoking and red meat.

Hope this answers your query.
