Are Amlodipine, Chlorthalidone And Bupropion Safe During Pregnancy?

I am 33, currently diagnosed with hypertension and taking amlodipine besylate 10mg, carvedilol 12.5 mg, chlorthalidone 25mg, potassium cl 10meq, and bupropion Sr 100 mg. Are taking these safe if I become pregnant? My general practitioner said yes but what I have read online says amlodipine in particular is class c? Is there a different drug I should be taking?

Hello,

While there may be other more preferred medications for hypertension when you are pregnant, such as methyldopa or labetalol, none of the medications you are currently on are considered high risk and would be reasonable to take during pregnancy.

Amlodipine, as well as bupropion, are considered category C for pregnancy risk, which only means that risk cannot be ruled out, though studies have not shown any clear risk, and if there is any, it is likely very rare.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
