Are Amikacin And Monocef Safe For Infection In Blood And Urine?

Hi My son is 3 year Old. Few days back he had loose motions and 101.F fever Doctor asked us to do CBC and then they found some infection in Urine and blood. Doctor has started giving AMIKACIN and MONOCEF injections but he still complains about the motion (only sensation but no actual motion). Is it the right medicine for this problem

Hi,

Treatment of diarrhea with fever with antibiotic is needed, if a bacterial infection is suspected. In your case perhaps Monocef and Amikacin have been started to cover a broad range of causative bacteria, as Monocef is mainly active against gram positive, while Amikacin is against gram-negative bacteria. In your case, if there is no actual motion but just a feeling of repeated motions, then lemon or a mixture of ginger and lemon may be beneficial to your son.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
