have taken my birth control religiously for 10 years. I was just recently put on antiobiotics for bronchitis and had unprotected sex. Should I be concerned? Also I just started bleeding and Im only one week into my pills

Hi.. It depends on the antibiotics that you are on.. Most antibiotics can interfere with the actions of the contraceptive pills to varying extent.. Among the antibiotics drugs that contain ampicillin, tetracycline and antifungal like griesofulvin are the most significant.. These drugs are well known to cause failure in the contraceptive actions of your pills. Drugs that contain ciprofloxacin are the least interfering drugs.. So it depends on what drug you have taken.. The bleeding that you have may be or may not be related to pregnancy.. Get a pregnancy test done to be on the safer side..
