Acute Pain In Hip Triggered By Sitting Or Lying Down, Feeling Of Cramps In Leg. Help From Paracetamol. On Chondroitin And Bromelian. Help

About a week ago I started getting acute pain in both hips sporadically, It seems to be triggered by sitting or lying, I am an active person, and the pain eases somewhat after a while when I am moving, I am allergic to all non-steroid anti inflammatories, but find paracetamol helps. At times when in bed my right leg feels as if I have the beginnings of cramp, but it does not develop further. When the pain comes it is so bad it makes my eyes water. As I am flying to New Zealand in 7 weeks time, and will be in an aircraft for more than 24 hours I would like advice as to how deal with this pain - or even better, how to get rid of it altogether. I am a very fit and healthy 71 year old, not on any medication, though I do take chondroitin and bromelian.

Hi,
As you are 71 years there are degenerative changes in your bones and joints giving rise to this problem.
There is possibility of having osteoporosis which is again a cause of your problem.
Take high dose of Calcium, Vitamin A and D supplements.
Take paracetamol for pain as and when required.
Do light physical exercise daily.
Ok and take care.
