Acid Reflex Symptoms, Spasm Like Pain In Chest And Back Pain After Taking Pseudophedrine. Is This A Known Side Effect Of Medication?

On two separate occasions, I have taken pseudoephedrine for nasal congestion. About an hour after taking it, I have experienced severe acid reflux-type symptoms, with a spasm-type pain in my chest & back. The pain eventually goes, but I'm left with severe reflux. Is this a known side effect of pseudoephedrine?

Hi,

Severe reflux is not a known side effect of pseudoephedrine. It may result in mild gastric irritation.

For Acid reflux, I usually advise my patients tab pantoprazole with domperidone daily before breakfast with abstinence from spicy food. Few investigations may be required if there is no improvement after it.

Do consider a positive feedback as a credit to my work Let me know if you have any further questions.
