Abnormal ECG Reports With High BP. Angiogram Shows No Blockage. History Of Slight Mitral Valve Prolapse. Advised 3D Echo. Guide

My husband had 3 abnormal ECG report consecutively, with a high BP of around 190 by 98 yesterday and an angiogram was performed on him today. But no blockage was discovered. He is 56 years old and has been taking hypertension medicine for the past 20 years. The doctors are planning to do 3D Echo on him tomorrow. what could be the reason for the abnormal ECG? He also feels tightening at the chest area, which he considers uncomfortable but not painful. His previous doctor(GP) had given him a muscle relaxant which has helped. One of the previous tests done a few years back, stated that he has a slight mitral valve prolapse. What should the doctors look for in their 3 D Echo? Thank you.

Dear Ma'm
Welcome to HCmagic
1. About the ECG abnormality, I can make a comment only after having a look. Moreover an ECHO will also help in determining the cause for ECG changes.
2. ECHO will tell you about the status of mitral valve prolapse, associated leakage from the mitral valve, effect of long standing hypertension on heart and other things about structure and function of heart.
3. The pain in chest may be related to mitral valve prolapse (atypical pain) or small vessel disease of heart (where pain will be typical) or may be unrelated to heart.
4. His BP should be controlled.
Sincerely
sukhvinder singh
