9 Year Old. Unilateral Swelling Behind Ear, Slightly Red. What Is Causing This?

My 9 year old daughter has unilateral swelling behind her ear at the mastoid process that is approximately 8 mm in diameter and slightly red. She reports that it started yesterday morning but she had not complained of it until she was sent to bed this evening. She does not have a fever . Suggestion? (FTR, if she is not improved by morning, we will be seeing our family physician.)
