79 Years. Supposed To Fly Long Distances. History Of Pulmonary Embolism With Minor Heart And Lung Infarction. Recommended Dose And Time Of Clexane For Self Injection?

I am 79 years old. I had a pulmonary embolism with very minor heart and lung infarction about eight years ago. I am fit. Ex runner and distance cyclist. Resting HR.45 to 55 BPM. Weight 87Kg BMI 26. Will fly to Europe from Austrlalia (20 hours) and return (20 hours) during next two months. I will break journeys in half with 24 hours stopovers. Is there a recommended dose of CLEXANE for self injection? How long to inject before and after flight?
Thanks for being there

Hello Thanks for posting Query
Do you know why you had pulmonary embolism(cause)? Have you been investigated for hypercoagulable state? Why it is necessary to know, because if embolism was provoked (due to immobility) then probability to happen it again is low and if it was unprovoked the probability of recurrence would be very high due to increase tendency of blood to form clot.
You can have prophylactic anticoagulant (Clexane) few hours before flight and it will work for 24 hours but before that you must consult doctor and better to have some coagulation profile to increase safety against bleeding complication of anticoagulant .
I hope my advice may be helpful for you. Take care
