7 Year Son, Petechiae Rash On Chest, Raised Bumps, Itchy. What Could Be This?

Hi, my 7 year old son woke up with a petechiae rash on the right side of his chest. There are a couple of raised bumps that are itchy between the petechiae. Could the petechiae simply be from scratching? Of course I am worried about all the awful diseases that petechiae could be a symptom of. He has no fever. Thanks for your input!

Pediatrician 's  Response
In any child with petechiae rash ,low platelet number(thrombocytopenia) or function (thrombasthenia)should be ruled out along leaky vessels(vasculitis). The causes may be infectious, post infectious or immune non infectious. The associated itchy lesions suggest vasculitis.Localised lesions can be seconadry to some insect bite.

A thorough evaluation by taking history, clinical examination and lab evaluation if required keeping these things in mind will help to reach close to diagnosis.
