7 Year Old Eating Pencil Erasers. How To Get Rid Of This?

Hi Dr. Dickinson, I have a 7 year old daughter who has an issue with eating pencil erasers. She has been doing so for about a year and a half now and we are very concerned about it. No pencil is safe at home or school. We tried getting her a big eraser thinking she possibly was eating them off of pencils by accident, but we quickly learned a bigger eraser only gave her more to eat! Please advise

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your available history.

You need to rule out hemoglobin or calcium deficit.

Sometimes, when in stress, child may develop habit of taking pencil so make it sure your child is not in stress.

You may consult developmental pediatrician or child psychologist for behavior change in your daughter.

I hope she will be fine soon.

Thanks.
