6 Year Old With Severe Headache, Vomiting. Need To Check Out?
Hi my 6 yr old daughter had some weird virus pass through her today. Her symptoms were severe headache ( on top of her head) and she vomited one time .. She was fine after taking 2 hr nap.. My concern is how bad she was saying her head hurt and she has had headaches she s complained about before. Should I be concerned ?
Normally a 6 year old should not be having constant headache except of course if there is notion of recurrent infections like sinusitis or flu or other infections. If the headache is recurrent and severe then it is a cause for concern and surely requires immediate medical attention.
A pediatrician will be the doctor of choice to look into your daughter's headache. Vomiting and headache usually signify signs of increased intracranial pressure and an intracranial affection needs to be excluded immediately. Your daughter might be required to go through a CT scan or MRI and maybe a series of laboratory tests done.
