6 Year Old With Ear Infection, Fever And Soreness In The Calf Muscles. Any Suggestions?

6 year old daughter: Ear infection over 1 and a half weeks ago: took all meds. Back at DR on Monday, (3 days after finishing meds) she had fever over weekend and complained of sore calf muscles. At Dr. today! Complete blood work done today waiting till Monday for results. She wakes up middle of the night crying, calf/leg pain. She had fever 99.4 today, swollen glands, coughing and is stiff when she wakes. She has not missed one day of school so she is not sick often!!!! Any thoughts? When she has motrin in her he jumps rope and plays for a while! Can a virus cause these symptoms? She was tested for JRA and lyme, she also had complete CBC work up today.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child seems to have a viral illness.
What about the complete blood picture?
Calf pain may be due to muscle inflammation which is seen in viral fever with myositis.
Give her plenty of oral fluids.
Give adequate rest restriction of activity to get the muscle pains decreased.
Continue the medication as advised by your Pediatrician.
Blood investigation for CPK may show muscle involvement.
So consult your Pediatrician for follow up visit and further treatment.
Hope I have answered your query.
