Radiologist Dr. Vivek Chail's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Alternating fever in a 6 year old can be a sign of underlying chronic infection. If the fever is present for 3 weeks then you should not delay any further to consult a pediatrician. A complete blood examination might be necessary. That will most likely indicate if there is any specific investigation is to be done. If you delay now, your child's health condition might get worrisome soon.

Give plenty of fluids and good food to your child.

Hope this helps
