2 Years Old. Runny Nose, Cough, Slight Fever, White Spots On Tonsils. What Could It Be?

yes my 2 year old and 3 year old both have had a bit of a runny nose and occasional cough the past couple of days. Today I noticed they both have white spots on their tonsils and a slight fever, but don't seem to have a sore throat. Could it be something other than strep or how do I know if they need antibiotics?

hello dear
thanks for your query at hcm.
antibiotics are needed when ever there is local infection with bacteria.
local bacterial infection usually present with high grade fever, subisding with medication but again recurring after 4 - 5 hours.
if child has above symptoms then child may require dose of antibiotics.
give child plenty of water, syrup paracetamol if fever. that will help child .
regards.
