Brief Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services. I have read your question.

You fell on your elbow yesterday and discoloring started on the next day.

Commonly bruises form when blood pools under the skin after an injury. It may take some time for the skin to change color, to get discolored.

You are suggested to apply ointment Thrombophob on the area affected. This ointment is a combination of Benzyl Nicotinate and Heparin. The ointment will help to speed up the dissolution of the blood clot under the skin, decreasing the pain and swelling.

Apply it 2-3 times a day, be gentle with yourself. It will help to relieve pain and inflammation by speeding up the healing process so that the discolored skin gets back to its normal color in 7-10 days.

You are advised to get your elbow clinically examined by an Orthopedics, or visit ER. Get X-ray and imaging tests (CT/MRI) done to detect fracture, tendon /ligament tear, any internal bleeding, etc. Blood tests are also done to check for clotting disorders and vitamin deficiencies.

Your treatment will depend on the pathology found, diagnosis made and severity of your symptoms.

Presently, you should keep the injured elbow elevated to prevent swelling and to minimize pain. You can take acetaminophen, one stat after food for relieve of pain. Check with your local doctor prior to using NSAIDs.

You can use an Arm Sling & Elbow Immobilizer for relieve. Hope I have answered your question. Get treated at the earliest. Take care.
