Cough with fever indicates acute upper respiratory tract infection.
As the cough persists for days and it is associated with fever, a short course of antibiotic is required. You can take azithromycin 500 mg once a day for five days after consulting a general practitioner. Antitussive cough syrup like codeine containing syrups will help to prevent cough. Antihistamine like cetrezine or levocetrizine can also provide symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist long, detailed investigations like chest X-ray may also needed.
