Brief Answer:
The information could be more accurate!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

So sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis. Blood glucose of 28 is unacceptably high and can lead to complications (Hope you mean 28mmol/liter).

1. The goal of blood glucose ideally is 5.5mmol. That would be good enough. Above 7.1 is worrisome, especially in a fasting state. I know this should be a gentle process bringing it to the normal range but 28 should never be viewed as normal.

2. Your son can eat whatever he likes but in moderation. However, carbs and most especially simple carbs are highly discouraged.

3. Exercise is very much encouraged. It helps achieve better blood glucose control with smaller insulin doses. While I will not crucify my patient for not exercising often, this is very much encouraged.

4. Insulin demands vary with diets. If he eats less or minimal carbs, the insulin doses should be adjusted accordingly. rarely would not administering and be the standard.

In all, exercise, diet and lifestyle changes, weight control and correct use of insulin are very important for the appropriate management of diabetes.

I hope this addresses your questions.
