Question: im 38 year old female. hx of vetebral artery dissection, strokes in the cerebellum medications: 325mg daily aspirin, 20mg rosuvastatin, 10 mg buspirone, claritin. My upper chest keeps getting flushed (red and splotchy) everytime i eat or take a hot shower. i have other non related symptoms such as dizziness, trouble concentrating at times, pressure in head, heachaches and eye pain. im worried about what this could be, or which direction i should be pointed in. i feel awful pretty much all of the time. also recently they have found a small tissue mass off the side of my liver that they don't think is anything but still want an MRI soon. ive also had a small nodule in my neck for about 5 years they plan on ultrasound again soon.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are probably not related

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Your upper chest flushing after showering could be related to an allergy or something called heat urticaria, where histamine is released in the skin when it is exposed to heat. Does it appear after you eat specific food items?

The other symptoms such as dizziness, pressure in head, headaches and eye pain could be related to the vertebral artery dissection or another cerebral issue. For these symptoms, I would suggest you get a phsysical by a neurologist, possibly also an MRI. In relation to the flushing, a photo of it would be valuable to get closer to a diagnosis.

The liver nodule you mention is most likely a hemangioma, cyst or something similar, completely benign. You shouldn't worry about that, but it is definitely a good idea to get an MRI to be sure.

Where is the nodule in your neck located? Size of the nodule? Has it grown in size over the past 5 years?

Looking forward to hearing from you again.

The redness usually appears after eating anything warm. Not specific food though. i just wanted to be sure it wasnt carcinoid syndrome. The nodule in my neck a little bigger than a marble. It has not changed in size and it's not in my lymph nodes either. Thank you

Brief Answer:
It doesn't sound like a carcinoid

Detailed Answer:
Hi again XXXXXXX

It doesn't sound like a carcinoid at all, as this typically presents with random flushing, palpitations, and headaches. It can however easily be excluded as a differential diagnosis by the blood tests.

Hope this helps.
