Question: i went out saturday night. Got fairly drunk and was offered coke. I felt pressured to do some but only did a very small amount but enough to feel it. since then I have had chest pain. It has almost been 48 hours since I did it. the pain seems to come with caffeine. i took some tylenol hydrocodone today to try to take some edge off. it seems to be getting better but what should I do?

Brief Answer:
You should be investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it could be Gastro esophageal reflux disease.Tylenol may not be helpful in this situation.I prescribe a Proton pump inhibitor like Rabeprazole along with Domperidone initially to my patients with similar complaints.I also add Syrup containing Sucralfate along with Oxetacaine 10 ml thrice daily.
If there is no response,I will get an ECG and exclude any Heart problem. If ECG is normal, then I will go for Upper GI Endoscopy.
Avoid Carbonated drinks, Caffeine products.Stop taking Spicy food.Alcohol should be avoided.
Please consult a Gastroenterologist and proceed further.
Nothing to worry.
It will come down.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health and speedy recovery.

Brief Answer:
Avoid exercise till symptoms subside

Detailed Answer:
Hi
If ECG is normal, then you can do your routine exercises after your pain is relieved.
Liver function tests(LFT) and Ultrasound abdomen to know the status of the Liver should be done if the pain is present in the right upper part of the Abdomen. They should also be done if you are passing yellow coloured urine(Jaundice).
Nothing to worry
Please get an ECG first and proceed further.

Thank you. How long should I avoid exercise for? Should I also get liver examination? I am not a heavy drinker and recently had blood tests that came back ok, but this was before said incident
