I Am 64 Years Old And I Was Urinating Blood
Hematuria could be mostly due to Enlarged Prostate Needs to be investigated
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Based on the facts that you have posted blood in urine with slightly raised PSA 4.13 (Normal value being 0-4) is most likely to be due to bleeding due to rupture of small vein on the superficial surface of an enlarged prostate which is common at this age.
Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get the following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Trans Rectal Ultrasound Scanning (TRUS) to rule out cancer of Prostate
Start taking antibiotics like Cefixime and Nitrofurantoin twice daily along with alpha blockers like Tamsulosin and Dutasteride once daily.
Ensure to drink more water to avoid getting clot retention and to pass more urine
Repeat PSA after two weeks, if reading is still more than 4 you may need to get Prostate Biopsy done to rule out cancer of prostate.
Further treatment will depend upon the result of these tests and final diagnosis
Hope I have answered your query, please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you.
Thanks and Regards.
