Suggest Treatment For Abscess In Leg Thigh

Question: hi doctor, I need your advise on healing a wound
I had a abscess in my leg thigh for which i have taken antibiotic from a doctor
i went for 3 dressing to remove the pus from the doctor.
it made a big hole in that area and post the complete removal of pus, i was advised T.bact ointment
and i was asked to do dressing at my home.
the hole got filled fairly soon in 3 to 4 days and flesh has covered fully except for the top skin.
Doctor advised me to keep the wound open (this is in the size of 2 cm in diameter)
and continue ointment t.bact for couple of days and then leave it dry for healing
after this, the top portion become dry but the centre of the would still was secreting some sort of fluid
i was at home for 3 weeks continuously from the initial day of abscess. So, for certain urgent work, i had to go out. i covered with wound with a dressing and went out .
when removing the dressing, it gets stuck in the middle of the would where fluid were secreting and that got dried and stuck with the guaze.
later, i took neosporin powder on my own, to keep the would dry.
after applying nesporin powder, it looks dry and there is no fluid coming out.
but when i wear a pant, due to friction, the top portion gets bruished again.
Applying guaze bandage gets stuck when it becomes dry and without guaze bandage, it gets bruised due to friction.
can u suggest is there any way i can cover the would without hurting it, so that i can resume going to office. The bandage should not get stuck to the would when the fluid that comes out dries on the bandage. The bandage should not create friction and bruise the wound again.
I am posting the current picture of the would taken today. As you can see, it looks dry, but yesterday night it was bruised due to wearing pant and flesh was visible without the outer skin layer. On applying neosporin powder, it becomes dry externally and looks like the one in the picture.

1. Request your advise on handling this would, as it would be very necessary for me to go to office wearing a pant.

2. Repeated healing and bruishing due to wearing pant/bandage is delaying the process of healing. Will this create complication in complete healing of the would?

Brief Answer:
apply medicated vaseline gauze

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

There are medicated vaseline gauze dressing (with either betadine or antibiotic as the active component) sheets available easily with any good chemist and so also absorbant pads. Get them, the smallest size available.

In the morning during bath, clean the wound nicely with any antiseptic soap to clear off all your neosporin powder. After that dry the wound by pressing a clean towel or cloth over it ( don't rub, just press).

Then apply the medicated vaseline gauze over the wound after removing its protective coverings. Over this apply the absorbent pad and strap these either a roller bandage or an adhesive tape.

After you come back from your office, remove the dressing (peel off the vaseline gauze from the skin), it won't have struck to the wound. And in case it has, just pour a little 'normal saline' (buy a 100ml bottel) to wet the dressing and it will come off easily.

Now till you are at home, keep the wound open (you may apply neosporin powder) to dry it off for faster healing.

Hope i have been helpful.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Verma
