Question: hi. I have flu symptoms, 2 weeks now. blocked head, nose and ears, plus a cough that sounds like gravel or chesty. sometimes with mucus. whether from nose or throat the mucus is clear. as it's been going on for so long I'm wondering if I should be doing something other than vitamin c, a cough medicine and Vicks

I read your query and here is my advice.
Flu may last for 5-7 days but you are expecting symptoms for longer so it can be allergies or sinusitis.
You may need to rinse nose with saline water and use a corticosteroid nasal spray such Flonase or beconase. Also use antihistamines such ceterizine or loratadine once daily.
If you don't seem to be better and the nasal secretions become yellow and green you may need to use antibiotics.
