Question: hello! please i would like to the opinion of an orthopaedic regarding my infection.

i had a debridement surgery last week following my infection from ankle ligament reconstruction surgery last month.

after debridement, they did a swab and have been giving me Tazocin which they have said is ok for my infection. however, ine of my wounds have closed, the other is still struggling to close and has a very small amount of discharge one week after Debridement surgery.

should i continue with antibiotics or something else? what would you do?

Brief Answer:
Possible VAC dressing

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

You must complete the course of antibiotics as prescribed.

If wound closure isn't imminent, it may need Vaccuum assisted closure or VAC dressing.

This decision will need to be taken by your operating surgeon with an opinion getting the Plastic surgeon.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thanking you.

do you think this is a small drainage and has a good chance of closing with antibiotics over the next couple of day?
or do you think there is a chance of having to do another debridemenr surgery, even though i am already taking the right antibiotics

Since the wound looks approximated it has a good chance of healing well.
