Brief Answer:
Very risky to medicate

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for writing to us.
As your child is having severe cough, it is better to get him examined at any nearby local health facility.
Def Cort is steroid which has to be taken only after doctor examination and prescription. If it is an infective cough it can make your child worse.
If infective he may need antibiotics like azithromycin.
Do not take chances. It is always better to get him examined. Maybe he may require nebulisation if he has rhonchi.
As of now keep him well hydrated till you see a doctor.

Brief Answer:
If required yes after prescription

Detailed Answer:
If the examining doctor feels that infection is not cleared yet, he may recommend another course of antibiotics. If recommended so, it is safe to take another course.
